Sudden death still applies. Both captains must agree to the number of players added. If not, overtime will begin with the number of players left standing at the end of regulation time. The first team to legally eliminate any one opposing player will be declared the winner.

This requires a ball to be at the disposal of the trailing team. If the leading team controls all the balls they must make a legitimate effort to get at least one ball across the attack line and into the opponent's backcourt. If this is not done within 5 seconds, a violation will be called. A team may avoid a 5 second violation by throwing or rolling a ball into the opponent's backcourt.

This does not mean throwing the ball over and through an opponent's end line. Teams are responsible for providing their own retrievers, and the number of retrievers is usually determined by the tournament director. If any part of the player's body touches the end lines or far neutral zone line, the player is "out".

If momentum carries a player out of bounds while making a catch, the player is not out as long as he had control of the ball before going out of bounds. Play will resume once the non-offending team has possession of all the balls. Uniforms are considered part of a player's body. If the uniform is hit you are out. Thus baggy clothing can be a disadvantage. The defender may block a live ball with another ball. That ball is still a live ball however, until it hits the floor, wall or ceiling. If a blocking ball is dropped as a result of contact from a live ball, then the player who drops the ball is out.

A player shall not leave the playing field to avoid being hit or in an attempt to catch a ball.
